Props Used in Classes at Anaconda Yoga

If you’re joining us online, you don’t need a home gym. You just need a few simple, supportive tools.

These are the props we use most often in Sculpt, Flow, Restorative, and some of our strength based classes. If you purchase through the links I share, I may earn a small commission at no cost to you. That commission helps me keep offering affordable yoga to this community, which I think is a really beautiful thing.

Let’s keep it simple.

Manduka Bolster

Best for: Restorative Yoga, longer holds, nervous system reset.

A bolster is firm and supportive. Not a squishy pillow. It holds you up so your body can soften.

We use it for:

  • Supported backbends
  • Gentle heart openers
  • Elevated hips in seated poses
  • Full body restorative setups

What to look for:

  • Firm, dense filling that does not collapse
  • Rectangular shape for more stability
  • A washable cover

If you mostly take Sculpt, you can skip this. If you love Restorative or slower classes, this is gold.

Manduka Cork Blocks, Set of 2

Best for: Every single class.

Manduka Cork Blocks – $46 for set of 2 on Amazon

Blocks bring the floor closer to you. They help you move with better alignment and less strain.

We use them for:

  • Supporting hands in standing poses
  • Stabilizing in lunges
  • Elevating hips in seated work
  • Under shoulders in bridge or restorative

What to look for:

  • Cork over foam if you want something solid and grounding
  • Clean edges that do not crumble
  • Enough weight that they do not slide around

Two blocks is ideal.

Light Weights and Resistance Bands

Best for: Yoga Sculpt and other strength classes

3 lb Dumbbells – $9.99 on Amazon

Resistance Bands, Set of 3 – $14.98 on Amazon

These add load without taking you out of your breath. We are not chasing exhaustion. We are building strength that supports your joints, your hikes, your skiing, your everyday life.

We use them for:

  • Squats and lunges
  • Glute bridges
  • Rows and presses
  • Static holds in Warrior or Chair
  • Lateral steps to wake up the hips
  • Core work that asks your stabilizers to show up

What to look for:

  • A light, medium, and heavy option
  • Fabric or thicker latex that does not roll up your legs
  • Enough tension that you feel challenged, but can still breathe
  • What to look for with weights:
  • 2 to 5 pounds is perfect to start
  • A comfortable grip
  • Hex shaped if you do not want them rolling away

If your neck tightens or your breath gets choppy, they are too heavy. In Sculpt, control matters more than load. The breath leads. The weight follows.
