Our Story
Meet Marquis & Michelle
This retreat is a special mother-daughter collaboration.
Long before Anaconda Yoga existed, Michelle was the one encouraging Marquis to follow her dreams, reminding her to trust herself, and showing up with quiet, unwavering support. Today, that same care extends into every retreat they offer together.
Throughout the weekend, you’ll experience that care in countless ways. Michelle prepares nourishing meals, tends to the little details that help everyone feel comfortable, and creates an atmosphere where people can truly exhale. Marquis guides the yoga practices, workshops, and group experiences, weaving together movement, breath, and meaningful conversation.
Together, they create something neither could offer alone.
The intention is simple: to create a space where you feel genuinely cared for. A place where someone else cooks the meals, holds the schedule, and takes care of the details, so you can finally put everything down for a while.
Whether you’re arriving exhausted, overwhelmed, or simply craving a weekend to reconnect with yourself, you’ll be welcomed like family.

Marquis Matson
Marquis Matson is the founder of Anaconda Yoga and a lifelong student of the human psyche, the nervous system, and traditional yogic wisdom.
After more than a decade of traveling, studying, and working in yoga communities across India and Asia, Marquis returned home to Anaconda, Montana in 2023 to bring her experience back to the the US. Her work now sits at the intersection of somatic practice, psychology, and classical yoga, grounded in the belief that healing happens through lived, embodied experience, not performance.
Marquis holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a former adjunct professor of psychology and has spent years teaching human development, sexuality, and mental health. This academic background deeply informs her somatic yoga work, allowing her to guide practices that support nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and a felt sense of safety in the body.
Alongside her academic training, Marquis completed her 200-hour training in Classical Hatha Tantra in India and has devoted over fifteen years to personal practice and study. Her somatic approach weaves slow, intentional movement, breath awareness, interoception, and rest, inviting students to listen to their bodies rather than override them. Sessions are designed to help unwind habitual holding patterns, restore trust in sensation, and reconnect women to their intuitive, embodied intelligence.
Her teaching is rooted in presence, precision, and care. She is less interested in perfect poses and more devoted to helping people soften long-held patterns, develop self-attunement, and access their innate capacity for healing. When Marquis says that you matter, she means it. Her life’s work is an offering to that truth.

Michelle Matson
Michelle believes that caring for people is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to help them feel at home.
She has spent years creating welcoming spaces through food, hospitality, and genuine connection, and brings that same heart to every retreat.
Throughout the weekend, Michelle lovingly prepares nourishing meals, tends to the little details, and helps create an atmosphere where you can truly relax. Whether she’s sharing a conversation over breakfast or making sure your tea cup is full, her presence is a quiet reminder that being cared for is part of the experience.
Winter has a way of clearing space for what matters.
This retreat is your chance to step into that quiet and reconnect — with your body, with other women, and with the wild feminine power that’s always been there. Through movement, meals, and moments of stillness, you’ll remember what it feels like to come home to yourself.
