Our Story
Meet Marquis & Nicole
Some collaborations are strategic.
This one is relational.
Nicole and I met years ago while working together online for a retreat booking platform. At the time, we were both living nomadic lives, following our own threads through yoga, travel, and self-inquiry across different corners of the world. What started as professional overlap slowly became friendship, then trust, then a deep knowing.
Over the years, our friendship has grown through shared work, long voice notes, creative collaboration, and being there for each other through some very real life moments. We work well together because we know when to be focused and when to be light. We can be practical and organized, then silly and playful five minutes later. There’s an ease between us that makes everything feel more natural.
I invited Nicole to be part of this retreat because she understands my vision without needing it overexplained. She brings warmth, steadiness, and a deep respect for the quieter, subtler aspects of this work. Whether we’re cooking, setting up a space, or simply being present with a group, there’s a shared rhythm between us that translates into the overall feel of the retreat.
What you’ll experience isn’t co-facilitation in the formal sense. It’s the calm that comes from a space being cared for by two people who trust each other, laugh easily, and know how to create something both grounded and a little bit magical, without trying too hard.

Marquis Matson
Marquis Matson is the founder of Anaconda Yoga and a lifelong student of the human psyche, the nervous system, and traditional yogic wisdom.
After more than a decade of traveling, studying, and working in yoga communities across India and Asia, Marquis returned home to Anaconda, Montana in 2023 to bring her experience back to the place that shaped her. Her background bridges science and tradition, weaving together psychology, family systems, and classical yoga in a way that is both grounded and deeply human.
Marquis holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a former adjunct professor of psychology and has spent years teaching human development, sexuality, and mental health to undergraduate students. Alongside her academic work, she completed her 200-hour training in Classical Hatha Tantra in India and has devoted over fifteen years to personal practice and study.
Her teaching is rooted in presence, precision, and care. She is less interested in perfect poses and more devoted to helping people understand themselves, soften patterns of suffering, and reconnect with their innate capacity for healing. When Marquis says that you matter, she means it. Her life’s work is an offering to that truth.

Nicole Johnson
Nicole Johnson’s path into yoga began not with certainty, but with curiosity.
A camera, a one-way ticket, and a quiet longing for something more set her on a journey that would take her across continents and into the heart of her own practice. From living out of a car in New Zealand to documenting mindfulness retreats in Portugal, from deepening her studies in India and Ecuador to finding stillness in places like Peru’s Sacred Valley and coastal Costa Rica, her experiences have been shaped by movement, travel, and attentive presence.
Yoga found Nicole in the spaces between doing and being. Between motion and rest. Between telling stories for others and learning to listen to her own.
With over a decade of practice and teaching, Nicole approaches yoga as a process of remembering. Through breath, stillness, and intentional movement, she helps create space for reconnection and clarity. She earned her RYT certification through Holistic Yoga School in Colorado and has taught Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, breathwork, and mindfulness in a wide range of settings.
Her teaching style is accessible, intuitive, and deeply attuned to the room. She meets people where they are while gently inviting them to take responsibility for their own growth, both on and off the mat. Nicole believes yoga is a living practice, one that supports real life rather than escaping it.
Summer has a way of opening you to what’s alive.
This retreat is your chance to step into that quiet and reconnect — with your body, with other women, and with the wild feminine power that’s always been there. Through movement, meals, and moments of stillness, you’ll remember what it feels like to come home to yourself.
